Mission
The objective and continuing mission of the North Central Civic Association is to promote and coordinate community welfare primarily as it relates to education, safety, preservation, and social and recreational activities.
History
The North Central Civic Association was formed in 1996 by a group of individuals who wanted to implement positive solutions to neighborhood issues such as traffic and alley maintenance. At the time, the park bordered by Fendall Avenue, Hanes Avenue and West Ladies Mile was unnamed. In 1997, the Association entered into a cooperative agreement with the City’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities to name the green space North Central Park and to establish which maintenance services the Association and the City would provide. The park remains a prominent feature of the neighborhood and is the location of many Association events.

NCCA is bounded by the following: The Southern Boundary is the North side of Brookland Park Boulevard beginning on the west side of Griffin Avenue (Western Boundary) running east to North Avenue’s eastern side (Eastern Boundary). The boundary runs north along North Avenue to Hazelhurst Avenue then turns northwesterly toward Laburnum Avenue, which is the absolute Northern Boundary of the Association area inclusive of the single block of Henrico Boulevard between North and Griffin Avenues.
